Purakaunui Falls – Jacqui Scott
Given waterfalls are a very traditional subject, it can be difficult to come up with a refreshing interpretation, particularly if they are as well know as these Falls. The monochomatic interpretation here provides a refreshing change because it has reduced the contrast between the bright water and the dark rock and foliage. The long exposure has also been well balanced. The picture could be improved somewhat by a slight increase in the contrast - at present the image has a slightly muddy look.
