Gabar Goshawk: by Jacqui Scott
I felt a strong sense of the predatory nature of this bird. The compositional elements of tone, sharpness, dominance, texture, depth of field and perspective drew me into the talons and beak and piercing eyes. I particularly liked the way in which the bird is separated from the background by tone and blur. For me to award an honours rating, I would like to see more light on the head and eyes as I felt the tone of the breast feathers held my attention more than the head and eyes.
