Colour in the rain - Tim Herrick
I am drawn immediately to the hues in the trees, which leave me with a surreal feeling about the image. The colours of the tree are pointed to by the land coming out from bottom left, and my eye is held on the colours by the muted tones of the background. I feel that the amount of space on the bottom right of the image is not in balance when considering how it relates to the leading lines, the main rectangle with the colours and the background triangle. This is because I found I ignored that part of the image no matter how often I looked.
For me if the space in the bottom right was given less prominence, for example by use of a vignette, I would have been inclined to give this image a merit rating. A grade - accepted
